April 30, 2010 - MasterJoe.ORG is Now Steel City PC
|
For those who have not noticed, there is a new look and feel around here. Why? Well, with all of the .ORG confusion, I wanted a .COM name, so that it would resolve those issues. Well, after trying a bunch of them, only to find out they were already taken, I finally found one that fit, and that I liked. See, as many people know, Pittsburgh PA, my home town, is the Steel City. It is also called by other names, including the City of Champions (for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins), the City of Bridges (for our many bridges), and a list of less flattering names, which I will not validate by listing any of them.
What HAS changed?
The look and feel. The colors and the graphic and the buttons. The focus has also changed somewhat as well. I am hoping to widen the scope of the site. I am going to begin creating and adding new tools for more business oriented users. These will unfold over time, and the latest status will be posted here.
What HASN'T changed?
The quality. I will still be doing everything I can to provide the best in software, information, links, and help to all visitors, and continue to build on top of an already solid foundation, in order to ensure that there is plenty of reason for you all to keep coming back.
What about MasterJoe.ORG?
For now, it will just be redirected to Steel City PC. The MasterJoe.ORG t-shirts are still available, and you can still get yours, even if just for the memory, but to show your continued support of this new venture as well.
That said, I will begin the painful process of submitting the new site to search engines, directories, and the like, in order to drive more traffic to the site. I thank everyone for their continued support, and hope that this new journey will be a positive one. As always, I welcome all feedback and comments using the Contact link at the left, and hope to hear all of your comments on the new site.

April 18, 2010 - There's A Storm Comin'
|
What does my title mean? Well, things are really heating up on the mobile market, for one. Apple is preparing a new release of its iPhone OS, but its new terms have upset a lot of developers, mostly over its tightening standards on no longer allowing cross-compiler use for app development, something that Adobe did not take too kindly to. In the meantime, Android devices are coming out of the woodwork, and the Kin will be the first glimpse of Windows Phone 7 we get, even if the version on this device won't be the full blown version. Palm appears to be putting itself on the market for sale, which could be an interesting acquisition for any number of possible buyers. RIM has been a bit quiet lately. What are they up to? That's it for now, but I expect to have more to say on this subject in the coming months.
