July 7, 2009 - A Month In
Well, for the site, I have added some new programs and links, and updated a few of the important versions, such as Firefox, which is now at 3.5. I would normally post on a Saturday, but I am having my tonsils out on Friday, and will be out for awhile, and didn't awnt to wait until after recovery to make an update for this month. So, to sum it all up, new version updates, a few new applications added, with a monster list of those still to come, and some new links. Also, as another reminder, t-shirts are still $3 at the Store, and are a much appreciated way to show your support.

Now, on to what the title pertains to. Last month, I had mentioned a purchase of both a Zune, and a Kindle DX. Well, Amazon and I had a little disagreement on customer service, and the Kindle DX got returned. What was the issue? Well, I had sent an e-mail to their customer service department, addressing two things. The first was that you CANNOT increase the font size for PDF files. This is unacceptable to me, as PDF support became native in this version of the Kindle. And, if you can magnify eBooks formatted in Amazon's AZW format, why can't you magnify a PDF? Secondly, when you turn a page, there is a brief instant where the color of the font and the background color switch, making it a lighter font on a dark background. Personally, I would LOVE to actually be able to maintain this color scheme for reading, as I do better with light on dark. When I posed this to Amazon, their response was that they understood my CONCERN about the flashing. However, since I never used the word concern in my entire message, I was a bit taken back, and decided we clearly did nto see eye to eye on this, and returned it the next day. So, I lost what could potentially have been a nice new gadget to help me read more, and do so in a mobile device. But, instead, Amazon lost about $550. As for the Zune, I still have that, and love it. I know I would be stirring the pot, but I truly do believe that it is better than the iPod. The interface, functionality, and style all top that of the iPod, a device which I have used before. In addition, the ZuneHD comes out this Fall, which will be the first ever HD video player on the market, and offer a touch screen, and a lot of other cool features, making a great device even better. So, for that, I am thankful, as the Zune is quite possibly the msot under-rated device around today.

That's all for now, but updates will always be coming, and the list of downloads and links alike will continue to grow, offering all visitors the best of the Internet, in one place, organized, and FREE.
