November 21, 2010 - Terrorism Paper
Well, I don't normally share materials I write for grad school courses. But, in this case, i will make an exception. I just finished a paper for my Terrorism, Security and Intelligence class, and thought I would share it here, for anyone who might be interested. If so, you can download it by clicking here.

In other news, the Nook Color came out at Barnes & Noble this month. I checked it out this past Friday, and was somewhat impressed. However, not being able to make the font in the e-books that big, and not being able to change the background and text colors on elements of the device other than the e-books are two major drawbacks to the Android-powered device. There is a rumor that Amazon is looking to develop a color e-reader, and I am waiting to find out if that is true. I hope that it is, and that they do allow for uniformity in color changes.

In other news, Google has been in quite a bit of privacy trouble, with a lot of lawsuits filed against it in the courts, including the Supreme Court. It actually makes my transition to Bing all the easier. Google Instant was one feature that drove me away, and their complete disregard for personal privacy and their attitude towards it are just not something I am prepared to accept. So, I will work hard to use Bing, when I need to search the web. That isn't to say that Google is a bad search engine, but I don't support their collection of data that is too private for my liking.

Windows Phone 7 debuted at AT&T this month, and the first reviews are mostly good. The Samsung Focus seems to be the best device, with the LG in second and the HTC a distance third. The WP7 OS has delivered on its promises, and I look forward to having WP7 options on Verizon early in 2011. I also look forward to the continued growth of the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace, and seeing what improvements Microsoft makes to performance, features, and everything else in updates released. I see a lot of potential in the OS, and hope you will all at least take a look at your local mobile phone store (AT&T or T-Mobile at present, I believe), and see what you think.

Anyway, that's all for this month. Happy Thanksgiving, to those of us who celebrate it this coming Thursday.
